Accommodation
For those who want to stay at 'Destination Ayeyarwady', there is the Dolphin Ecolodge Hsithe.
This wonderful countryside hideaway is next door to the Visitor Centre and is a very special place.
The lodge has a capacity for upto 12 guests. However, to ensure the exclusivity and atmosphere of the stay, we only allow one group (for example a couple, a family, a group of friends, or tour group) to stay at any one time. In this way, the lodge becomes yours for the night.
Accommodation continued
From the lodge’s verandah, you can watch the ever-interesting river-life, with its rich variety of boats and wildlife. Alternatively, you can enjoy the sights and sounds of the village or relax in a hammock marvelling at the breath-taking sunset over the river and soak up the peaceful atmosphere.
The accommodation is built in traditional Myanmar style, in harmony with the surrounding environment, and blends effortlessly into the village architecture. Naturally, we used reclaimed wood, mostly sourced from the village, whilst the roof is ‘tiled’ in bamboo.
To preserve the feeling of authenticity, the Dolphin Ecolodge has "natural air conditioning", with full length shutter-windows on all four sides, which also ensure fantastic panoramic views. The furniture is made of recycled wood and bamboo.
The lodge has two bespoke shower rooms and two toilets.
Delicious breakfasts, lunches and dinners are cooked by your village hosts. They are eaten in the visitor centre. A snack of pancakes, honey and fresh lime is available throughout the day.
