welcome to Destination Ayeyarwady

a multi-award winning destination, with an Ecolodge and an Environmental Learning Centre
IMPORTANT - It is essential to read the Health & Safety and Liability document before undertaking a visit. We also provide Child Safety information and a link to 'Cultural Do's and Don'ts'
The development of the destinations is part of a community-conservation project funded by the UK's Darwin Initiative. It is a partnership between the Myanmar non-profit organisations 'Grow Back for Posterity' and Myanmar Bird and Nature Society and the UK's Harrison Institute. The project has also received valuable support from the University of Mandalay.

Boat trips
Why not take a trip in a fishing boat and observe the fishermen and fisherwomen carrying out their traditional style of cast net fishing? You can enjoy the quiet serenity of the river and if you are lucky you may observe dolphins. For sure there will be a rich diversity of birds - ducks, cormorants, egrets, kingfishers, storks, and birds of prey. This is a great opportunity for photography.
