"I was lucky enough to visit Myit Kan Gyi on 13th January with some friends on your organised village tour.  Unfortunately we didn’t

spot any dolphins but it stood out as a special day largely due to the incredible hospitality of the locals" D.M.

The development  of the destination is a community-conservation project, which is supported by Myanmar and UK staff of the UK charity, the Harrison Institute.

Visitor centres
Hsithe village has a visitor centre, which includes:
1: information boards explaining about the river, its wildlife and its people
2: a small shop selling village-made handicrafts
3: tables and chairs for delicious meals
4: a very nice toilet with hand washing facilities!
The visitor centre, designed by Beatrix Lanzinger, uses wherever possible recyled wood, is the point of contact for all visitors arriving in the village. The centre manager at Hsithe is Daw (Mrs) San San Swe (below) who is a fisherwoman. She will be the guest relations manager of Hsithe destination.
